Hypercubes

My thesis, a hypertextual novel in four parts, demarcating the four parts of the body - head, heart, lust and feet. The piece that's linked to here is the first draft in hypertext version; for the complete text that became a multimedia gallery installation, read Feet, Lust, Heart and Mind.

Case Studies of Hacker Resistence

A project I started on cases like the GPL, Gnutella, and DeCSS. I try to compound a general ethic of the hacker community as it confronts the business world, and find academia making its most marked impact on the technology revolution.

Meditations on First Cybersophy

A paper that dissects the corpse of Descartes in the era of cyberspace. Our new recognitions of the networked and distributed reality of identity and space collapse Descartes' belief in a mind/body split and, well, God. VR creates its own gods, and the Internet urges people to recreate their "residual self-image."

Rock the Blockade

The brainchild of Robert Arellano, professor of hypertext and cultural studies at Brown, this project crosses the American blockade of Cuba with a desire to unite our cultures through rock and roll. Being Cuban myself, I'm honored to be helping my compatriota in this fun gig. Check out the site soon for mp3's of concerts, including some big names in indie rock.

Voices in My Head

My first hypertext story, written when I was 17, after meeting my brother for the first time. This story has made its way around; through web searches, I've found it in the curriculum of at least 5 different universities.
